Neonatologist

Doron Shein is a Paediatrician and Neonatologist based in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Liverpool Hospital. He also holds VMO positions at North Shore Private Hospital and The Mater Hospitals in North Sydney as well as Sydney South West Private Hospital in Liverpool.

Doron enjoys neurodevelopmental follow up of babies born extremely premature and runs weekly clinics assessing the development of NICU graduates using assessment tools such as the Bayley 4 Scales of infant and toddler development and the Vineland-3 Adaptive Behaviour Scales. He is also currently establishing a more robust multidisciplinary medical follow up clinic at Liverpool Hospital to care for the needs of extreme prems in the first days and weeks after discharge.

Doron is passionate about education, particularly in the area of neonatal resuscitation. He helped establish and run neonatal resuscitation training for Sydney South West LHD and frequently performs outreach education and training. He is also a qualified and active Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) instructor.  Doron is also interested in Ultrasound and holds a Certificate in Clinician Performed Ultrasound in Neonatology (CCPU) from the Australian Society of Ultrasound Medicine.

Doron is recent past chair of the NICUS quality improvement group, known as ePrem72; a collaborative, multidisciplinary state-wide quality improvement group aimed at improving the care of extreme prematurely born neonates.

Doron is a committed husband and father to three beautiful children.

Dr Shein has appointments available for existing patients, however he is unable to accept new referrals at this time.
